As women we should all be familiar with our bodies so we can immediately identify any change and right away talk to our health care provider. This of course applies to our breast.
Breast cancer start when the cancer cell begins to grow. A growing cancer cell can develop in to a tumor often seen in x-rays or felt as a lump (not all lumps are cancerous, they can be benign and malignant).
Daily self-exams are recommended to be aware of any unusual changes. According to the American Cancer Society the following listed anomalies can be a symptom of breast cancer:
- Breast lump or thickness of the skin
- Visible change in the size, shape, or appearance of the breast
- Dimpling or irritated skin
- Nipple discharge
- Nipple turning inward
- Redness, scaliness, or thickening of the nipple or breast skin
Don’t forget to visit the physician for your yearly check up routine to reduce the risk of breast cancer.
