INTRAVENOUS SEDATION

Intravenous Sedation or “IV” is used to place the patient in a semiconscious state
when they present a severe fear of dentists or the treatment that will be performed on
them.  It is also recommended on cases of large surgical procedures.

For this procedure. the anesthesiologist will puncture your forearm or hand to place a
catheter, which will be used to administer sedatives in combination with saline
solution throughout the whole treatment, the anesthesiologist will be there the whole
time during your dental treatment.

An IV sedation is an excellent option if you are fearful of needles, the dentist or dental
procedures. If you feel anxious for your dental treatment, your dentist may
recommend this form of sedation.

-High stress levels by being in a dental office

-Ease of mind of the patient during the dental treatment.

-Less anxiety
