HYPERPLASTIC
TISSUE REMOVAL

Hyperplastic tissue is the overgrowth of any kind of soft tissue.  When referred to the oral
cavity we often find it in the gums, normally due to periodontal disease or medications.
To remove such tissue, a small surgicalprocedure is required on which we remove the exceeding tissue
and reshape the gums.  A check-up appointment is recommended 2 weeks after.

Your dentist will numb the area with local anesthetic.  After this, he will do a small
incision to remove the exceeding tissue.  With this procedure he will reshape the gum tissue.

Finally, your dentist might place stitches to ensure a better healing of the tissues.

Your dentist might suggest a hyperplastic tissue removal if he notice
any abnormal growth of your gums.
